The file InfantMon.txt contains four columns relating to records from equipment monitoring a preterm infant every one tenth of a second for a period of 50 minutes. The first column is the time stamp, incrementing by 0.1 with each row. The second column is the blood oxygen saturation as a percentage, the third is the pulse rate of the infant, and the fourth is their respiration rate. The data set used in the analyses in the book covers approximately the first half of this file. The data were obtained from an infant in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Christchurch Women’s Hospital, New Zealand. We are grateful to Dr Glynn Russell for supplying the data. The picture shows a similar infant in an incubator.
